The Berlin Project Funds „Kulturelle Bildung“ (Cultural Education) is a central instrument, established in April 2008 by Berlin’s representatives, designed to enable ground-breaking projects in the field of cultural education. The Berlin Project Fund allocates funding to three panels of educational activities. Ever since, almost 100,000 young Berliners participated in more than 2,200 projects. The format values projects that involve at least two partners, one of each from the scene of art and culture and the other covering the field of education or youth.
The main purpose is to create and realize cooperations between artists or cultural institutions with educational institutions or youth clubs. Therefore, children, youngsters and adolescents get the chance to gain practical experiences in their own city and are confronted with urban spaces, professions, strategies, ideas, techniques, attitudes and opinions that convey new perspectives on thinking and acting. During April 2011 and June 2014, the Blog of the Berlin Project Fund became an archive that consists of more than 800 reports and more than 80,000 visitors online. It depicts the development of cultural education in Berlin.
