One of the most important public library conferences took place for the first time in Berlin and attracted roughly 400 participants from 38 countries.

As places where knowledge is collected and disseminated, libraries in today’s modern urban societies are increasingly turning into platforms that bring people together and encourage a productive exchange of knowledge. In 2018, we joined with Berlin’s Zentral- und Landesbibliothek (ZLB), the Kulturstiftung des Bundes and Aarhus Public Libraries to organise the four-day Berlin instalment of NEXT LIBRARY®, one of the world’s most innovative and successful conferences of its kind in the library sector.

A temporary library campus made entirely of wood highlighted the workshop character of this international conference and embodied the unique breadth of Berlin’s creative potential.
